Beşiktaş beaten away as Samsunspor strike in second half

Beşiktaş suffered a 2-1 away defeat to Samsunspor in Matchweek 30 of the Süper Lig.

The visitors failed to convert their first-half chances and were punished after the break as Samsunspor scored twice in quick succession to take control of the match.

First half: Chances without a breakthrough

The opening half saw a balanced contest, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut opportunities.

Beşiktaş came closest through Hyeon-Gyu Oh and Cengiz Ünder but were unable to find the net. Samsunspor also threatened through Ntcham, but the first half ended goalless.

Samsunspor take control

The home side started the second half with greater intensity and quickly made the difference.

In the 50th minute, Carlo Holse opened the scoring with a strike from outside the box following a pass from Ntcham.

Just six minutes later, Tanguy Coulibaly doubled the lead after being set up by Emre Kılınç, making it 2-0.

Late response from Beşiktaş

Beşiktaş struggled to regain control after conceding twice but increased their pressure in the closing stages.

In the 78th minute, Okan Kocuk made a crucial goal-line save to deny Rashica.

The visitors were awarded a penalty in stoppage time after a handball by Satka, and Kristjan Asllani converted from the spot in the 90+1st minute to make it 2-1.

However, the late goal was not enough to avoid defeat.

With this result, Samsunspor moved up to 42 points, while Beşiktaş remained on 55.

Samsunspor will face Alanyaspor away in the next round, while Beşiktaş are set to host Fatih Karagümrük.
