Man Utd's Sale Plan: £90m From Rashford to Bayındır

United's Need for Funds
After spending £80 million in the early part of the transfer window, Manchester United know they need to be smart with the rest of the summer. The club is looking to raise funds through player sales to finance further recruitment.
United have already shed some big wages this summer: Casemiro and Jadon Sancho left upon contract expiry, Rasmus Hojlund joined Napoli permanently, and Andre Onana's loan move to Trabzonspor is expected to see most of his salary covered by the Turkish club.
With Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos already signed, one more central midfielder may still be needed, and head coach Michael Carrick is expected to want reinforcements up front given a busier schedule than last season.
The Sale List: Six Names, a £90m Target
Marcus Rashford - £40m: For a while it looked like United might lose Rashford for just £26 million due to a clause in his Barcelona loan deal. However, Barcelona allowed that option to lapse after moving for Anthony Gordon instead — a blessing in disguise, with Rashford's World Cup form (a goal against Croatia, an assist for Bukayo Saka in the third-place playoff) boosting his market value.
Joshua Zirkzee - £30m: Things haven't quite worked out for the Dutch forward since his 2024 move from Bologna. He still holds a strong reputation in Italy, with Juventus remaining interested even after parting ways with former Bologna boss Thiago Motta.
Radek Vitek - £10m: Backup goalkeeper Vitek has openly expressed a desire to play elsewhere. He impressed on loan at Bristol City last season and is ready for another loan or a permanent departure.
Altay Bayındır - £5m: The arrival of Karl Darlow and a new deal for Tom Heaton suggest time's up for the Turkish international. According to The Sun, Bayındır has been given an extended break ahead of an expected summer exit. A move to Beşiktaş has been floated for the 28-year-old, who hasn't played in the Premier League since September. United have a chance to recoup their investment, having paid a little under £5m for him in 2023.
Toby Collyer - £3m: The young midfielder made a handful of Premier League appearances in 2024/25 before spending last season on loan, first at West Brom and then at Hull City. Hull, now promoted via the play-offs, could move for him permanently.
Tyler Fredricson - £2m: The 21-year-old defender is believed to be nearing a summer exit. Celtic are among the clubs linked, with a move reported to be close.

The combined proceeds from these six players could total close to £90 million — funds that could help United finance further midfield and attacking reinforcements for the rest of the summer window.
