Galatasaray Approach Arsenal for Gabriel Martinelli

Galatasaray have approached Arsenal over a potential move for Gabriel Martinelli.

According to football.london, the Turkish club have made contact regarding the 25-year-old Brazilian winger, but the situation remains at an early stage.

Arsenal are not expected to entertain Galatasaray’s interest in the short term, with Martinelli still considered part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.

What Is Arsenal’s Position on Martinelli?

Arsenal are not currently pushing Martinelli towards an exit.

The club are still looking to strengthen the left side of their attack after unsuccessful attempts to sign Vinicius Junior, and that search could eventually influence Martinelli’s future.

If Arsenal secure another suitable left winger, their position on Martinelli could change.

For now, however, the Brazilian remains part of the squad.

Christos Tzolis Adds Competition on the Left

Arsenal have already strengthened the position by signing Christos Tzolis.

The Greek winger has been the main starter on the left during pre-season, scoring on his debut against Girona before providing an assist from a corner against Real Betis.

His arrival has already increased competition for Martinelli’s position.

A second major addition on the left could make the situation more significant for the Brazilian.

Martinelli Is Happy at Arsenal

Martinelli is believed to be happy in North London and still wants to compete at the highest level.

There is currently no indication that he has asked Arsenal to leave or that he has agreed terms with Galatasaray.

However, his position could change if his playing time becomes significantly reduced.

Regular minutes elsewhere, combined with the arrival of another winger at Arsenal, could eventually become factors in his decision.

What Stage Is the Galatasaray Transfer At?

The situation should currently be described as initial contact.

Galatasaray have approached Arsenal, but there is no evidence at this stage of an advanced transfer process.

There is currently:

  • No accepted bid from Arsenal

  • No agreement between the clubs

  • No reported agreement with Martinelli

  • No medical or signing process

That means claims that Martinelli is close to joining Galatasaray would go beyond the information currently available.

Arsenal Want to Resolve Their Own Left-Wing Plans First

One of the main factors in the situation is Arsenal’s own recruitment strategy.

The club are looking at alternatives for the left wing and are unlikely to make a quick decision on Martinelli while that process remains unresolved.

If Arsenal find the right attacking addition, their position could shift.

For Galatasaray, that means progress may depend as much on Arsenal’s incoming business as on the Turkish club’s own negotiations.

Martinelli Scored Once in the Premier League Last Season

Martinelli scored one Premier League goal in 30 appearances last season.

His Champions League league-phase form was stronger, although he did not score during the knockout rounds as Arsenal progressed to the final.

That output, combined with Arsenal’s desire to increase competition in attack, has contributed to uncertainty around the left-wing position.

Arteta Expects More Movement

Mikel Arteta also indicated after Arsenal’s 4-1 pre-season win over Girona that further transfer activity is expected.

The Arsenal manager said the club want to improve the squad and increase internal competition before the end of the window.

That does not mean Martinelli is being actively sold, but it does underline that Arsenal’s attacking structure is not yet finalised.

Arsenal’s Next Signing Could Be Decisive

Galatasaray’s interest has now developed into direct contact, but Arsenal remain in control of the situation.

Their current preference is to keep Martinelli.

The picture could change if another left winger arrives and Martinelli’s role becomes less secure.

That makes Arsenal’s next attacking transfer the key development to watch.
