Fenerbahçe Reach Agreement With Romelu Lukaku

Fenerbahçe have moved closer to signing Romelu Lukaku from Napoli after reaching an agreement with the Belgian striker over personal terms.

According to a report cited from La Gazzetta, Lukaku has given the Turkish club the green light and accepted Fenerbahçe’s contract proposal.

Negotiations with Napoli are still ongoing, however, with the two clubs working on the final details of the transfer.

The deal is expected to be concluded within the next 24 hours if those talks progress as planned.

Lukaku Gives Fenerbahçe the Green Light

The most significant development is that Lukaku has agreed to Fenerbahçe’s terms.

The Turkish club have therefore cleared the player side of the negotiations and are now focused on completing an agreement with Napoli.

Napoli had granted Lukaku three additional days to hold transfer talks, and that period has now come to an end.

The striker is reportedly ready to make the move if the two clubs finalise the financial terms.

Napoli Want €10-12 Million

Napoli are looking to complete the transfer for a fee in the region of €10-12 million.

One factor in the negotiations is the agreement Napoli made with Chelsea when they signed Lukaku in the summer of 2024.

Under those terms, Chelsea are entitled to 40% of a future transfer fee.

That clause increases the importance of the final fee for Napoli as discussions with Fenerbahçe continue.

Napoli Also Want to Remove Lukaku’s Salary From Their Wage Bill

Lukaku’s salary is another important element of the deal.

Napoli are reportedly keen to avoid continuing to pay the striker’s €11 million annual salary, which has added further momentum to negotiations with Fenerbahçe.

The talks between the two clubs began on the evening of 8 August and had moved into their final stages by 9 August.

The remaining discussions are centred on the structure and final details of the transfer.

Two-Year Contract for Lukaku

Fenerbahçe are expected to hand Lukaku a two-year contract worth €10 million including bonuses.

The Belgian striker has already accepted those terms, leaving the club-to-club agreement as the main outstanding part of the deal.

If Fenerbahçe and Napoli settle the remaining points, the transfer could be completed quickly.

Final Negotiations Continue With Napoli

Fenerbahçe have already secured Lukaku’s approval, but the transfer has not yet been officially completed.

The final step is an agreement with Napoli, who are seeking a fee between €10 million and €12 million.

With negotiations described as being at an advanced stage, both clubs are now working to close the remaining details, with a resolution expected in the short term.
