Who Is Conrad Harder?

Conrad Harder is a 21-year-old Danish striker, born on 7 April 2005. Standing at 1.85 metres and naturally left-footed, he is currently with RB Leipzig.

Harder developed through Nordsjælland before moving to Sporting CP and later RB Leipzig. Despite his age, he has already played senior football in Denmark, Portugal and Germany.

His profile is built around aggression and volume.

He looks to shoot frequently, attacks channels, competes physically with centre-backs and contributes without the ball through pressing and defensive actions.

The numbers, however, suggest that he is not simply a penalty-box finisher.

From Nordsjælland to Sporting and Leipzig

Harder’s 2024/25 spell with Nordsjælland provides a useful starting point.

In the Danish Superliga he recorded:

  • 7 appearances

  • 589 minutes

  • 2 goals

  • 3 assists

  • 2.92 xG

  • 7.45 average rating

  • 100% starting rate

He averaged 4.58 shots per 90, the highest figure among qualifying Superliga strikers.

His 0.46 assists per 90, 0.45 xG and 1.68 successful dribbles also showed that he was already contributing beyond pure finishing.

After moving to Sporting, his role changed.

Across the 2024/25 Liga Portugal season, Harder played only 776 league minutes but still produced:

  • 5 goals

  • 5 assists

  • 3.13 xG

  • 8 big chances

His per-90 numbers were aggressive: 5.22 shots, 0.58 goals, 0.58 assists and 1.51 key passes.

Even in limited minutes, Harder generated a high volume of attacking actions.

High Shot Volume, Lower Conversion at Leipzig

His first Bundesliga season with RB Leipzig presents a different picture.

Conrad Harder — 2025/26 Bundesliga

The standout number remains his shot volume.

At 4.11 shots per 90, Harder ranked third among qualifying Bundesliga strikers.

The finishing return was less impressive.

He scored 3 goals from 4.25 xG, meaning his output fell below his expected scoring level.

That is a reversal from his Sporting spell, where he scored 5 times from 3.13 xG.

Harder’s Defining Trait: He Wants to Shoot

One characteristic remains consistent across different leagues and teams.

Harder shoots a lot.

  • Nordsjælland: 4.58 shots per 90

  • Sporting: 5.22

  • Leipzig: 4.11

Those leagues and tactical environments are different, so the rankings should not be treated as direct performance comparisons.

As a profile indicator, however, the pattern is clear.

Harder does not need much encouragement to attack the goal.

At Sporting, his 5.22 shots per 90 produced only 0.36 xG per 90, suggesting that a significant part of his shot volume came from relatively low-value situations.

At Leipzig, the volume dropped slightly while his xG increased to 0.42 per 90.

That points towards a somewhat more balanced shot profile.

More Than a Finisher

Harder also contributes creatively.

He averaged:

  • 1.51 key passes per 90 at Sporting

  • 1.37 key passes per 90 at Leipzig

His Sporting numbers also included 0.58 assists and 0.93 big chances per 90.

This suggests that he is not a striker who simply waits for the final touch inside the box.

Harder can move into channels, receive away from the centre-backs and help create opportunities for teammates.

There is a clear limitation, though.

His pass-completion rates have remained relatively low:

  • Nordsjælland: 66.4%

  • Sporting: 58.0%

  • Leipzig: 64.9%

That makes it difficult to describe him as a consistently reliable link striker at this stage.

His game currently looks more like that of a high-risk, high-action forward.

What Does His Physical Game Look Like?

Harder is frequently described as a physically aggressive striker, and his duel numbers support that profile.

He won:

  • 7.89 duels per 90 at Sporting

  • 5.48 per 90 at Leipzig

His aerial numbers are less dominant.

At Leipzig he averaged 2.35 aerial duels won per 90, ranking 20th among qualifying Bundesliga strikers.

He recorded 2.90 at Sporting and 1.53 at Nordsjælland.

That distinction matters.

Harder should not automatically be labelled as a dominant aerial target man.

A more accurate description is a striker who embraces physical contact, competes aggressively with defenders and can protect space through strength.

Pressing Is Part of His Profile

His defensive numbers also separate him from more passive centre-forwards.

At Nordsjælland he recorded:

  • 1.38 tackles per 90

  • 0.76 interceptions per 90

At Leipzig, his 0.69 interceptions per 90 ranked third among qualifying Bundesliga strikers.

The Sporting sample also points in the same direction.

Harder is not a forward who disappears when his team loses possession.

That makes him particularly interesting for teams that demand pressing intensity from the front line.

Still Not an Established Starter at Leipzig

One of the most important pieces of context is his playing time.

Harder made 29 Bundesliga appearances, but played only 919 minutes and started just 28% of his matches.

That works out at roughly 32 minutes per appearance.

A similar pattern existed at Sporting, where he played 28 league games but only 776 minutes.

The next stage of his development is therefore not simply about producing more goals.

It is about proving he can sustain his game over regular high-minute starting roles.

At Nordsjælland he started every match in the seven-game sample.

At Sporting and Leipzig, he became more of a rotation and impact option.

Main Development Areas

Three areas stand out in Harder’s current profile.

1. Shot Selection

His willingness to shoot is a strength, but volume alone is not enough.

The gap between his shot frequency and xG production, particularly at Sporting, suggests he still needs to improve the quality of the situations he chooses to finish.

2. Finishing Consistency

His finishing output has moved in opposite directions across two environments.

At Sporting:

3.13 xG → 5 goals

At Leipzig:

4.25 xG → 3 goals

There is not yet enough evidence to describe him as a consistently above-average finisher.

3. Link Play

The key-pass numbers are encouraging, but the low passing percentages point to room for improvement in possession security.

First touch, short combinations, lay-offs and decision-making with his back to goal are areas that could determine whether he develops into a more complete centre-forward.

Sporting’s 2025/26 Sample Needs Caution

Harder also logged 4 Liga Portugal appearances for Sporting in 2025/26 before moving on.

Those appearances amounted to only 58 minutes.

His per-90 numbers from that spell include:

  • 1.55 goals

  • 9.31 shots

  • 6.21 shots on target

Those figures should not be treated as representative performance levels.

The sample is simply too small for reliable percentile or per-90 evaluation.

What Type of Striker Is Conrad Harder?

Combining the statistical profile with the qualitative scouting notes produces a fairly clear picture.

Harder is:

  • left-footed,

  • aggressive,

  • highly shot-oriented,

  • comfortable attacking channels,

  • willing to engage physically,

  • active in pressing,

  • capable of creating for teammates,

  • and still developing technically.

He is not yet a finished striker.

Shot selection, finishing consistency, short passing and positional decision-making remain important development areas.

At 21, however, the underlying profile is highly interesting.

Harder is best described today as a high-volume, physically assertive modern development striker, rather than an elite finisher already operating at his ceiling.

Across Nordsjælland, Sporting and Leipzig, one trait has remained constant:

Conrad Harder wants to be involved, wants to attack the goal and wants to play at high intensity.

The next step will be turning that aggression into more efficient decisions, more stable finishing and a larger role over full matches.
