Mehmet Ali Aydinlar served as a member of the Turkish Football Federation Board of Directors from 2008 to 2011 before being appointed as TFF President on June 29, 2011.

Aydinlar, who previously served as a board member at Fenerbahçe, had sponsored the volleyball branch of the yellow-navy club through his Acıbadem Hospital.

Aydinlar also ran for president at the Fenerbahçe congress held on November 3, 2013, receiving 2,383 votes, while Aziz Yıldırım was elected president with 6,821 votes.
