Julian Quinones Stuns Ronaldo and Ivan Toney to Win Saudi Pro League Golden Boot
May 21, 2026
Julian Quinones completed a dramatic final-day comeback to win the Saudi Pro League Golden Boot with 33 goals, finishing ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Ivan Toney.

Julian Quinones has produced one of the biggest surprises of the Saudi Pro League season.
The Al-Qadsiah forward completed a stunning late surge to win the Saudi Pro League Golden Boot, overtaking both Cristiano Ronaldo and Ivan Toney on the final day of the campaign.
Hat-Trick Decides the Golden Boot Race
Quinones entered the final matchday with 30 goals, sitting behind:
Ivan Toney (Al Ahli) – 32 goals
Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nassr) – 26 goals
But the Mexican international delivered when it mattered most.
Against Al Ittihad, Quinones scored a hat-trick in Al-Qadsiah’s emphatic 5-1 victory, taking his final tally to 33 league goals and moving to the top of the scoring charts.
The 29-year-old forward joined Al-Qadsiah from Club América in the summer of 2024 and has now completed a remarkable debut campaign in Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo and Toney Fall Short
The race remained open until the final whistle.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in Al Nassr’s 4-1 win over Damac, finishing the season with 28 goals, but missed out on what would have been his third consecutive Saudi Pro League Golden Boot.
Meanwhile, Ivan Toney, who led the standings before the final round with 32 goals, failed to score against Al Khaleej, allowing Quinones to leapfrog him at the last moment.
Final standings:
🥇 Julian Quinones (Al-Qadsiah) – 33 goals
🥈 Ivan Toney (Al Ahli) – 32 goals
🥉 Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nassr) – 28 goals
Ronaldo’s Historic Record Still Stands
Although Ronaldo missed out on the individual award this season, his historic Saudi Pro League record remains untouched.
The Portuguese star still holds the record for the most goals scored in a single Saudi Pro League season after netting:
⚽ 35 goals in 31 matches (2023/24)
Despite Quinones’ extraordinary finish and Toney’s consistency throughout the campaign, neither player managed to surpass that benchmark.
A New Star Emerges in Saudi Arabia
Quinones’ rise represents another sign of the league’s growing competitiveness.
The Golden Boot was expected to be a duel between established European stars.
Instead, it was the Mexico international who stole the spotlight.
